coasting

I've been coasting for the past few years.

The last time I really enjoyed job was while working for Albertsons. I was learning stuff, I felt like I was actually doing stuff. I was getting quite involved with barcode systems, and was pretty much the go-to person for coupon barcodes.

Current job at CBS, Lease Admin, I basically am doing the same thing month after month.

wow.
I was posting fairly regularly for awhile, and now it's been almost a month since I last posted.
not a whole lot has changed, other than my longer commute to work (which with the rising cost of gas right now is not helping our money situation any...)
I've registered with the Phoenix Metro's RideShare program. But seems like there aren't a whole lot of people who live downtown and work in the NE valley... Sometime soon maybe we can get the scooter we bought for me in running condition... :/ though I must admit, I'm not looking forward to a 25 mile commute on a scooter...

It looks like if(when) the Albertsons sale goes through, I will probably be part of the SuperValu part. I think I would prefer CVS, since they seem to have the better technology. But that is what will probably keep me with SuperValu. My extensive knowledge of the Drug system and stores' Point Of Sale systems.
(CVS gets only the stores and the people. They don't get the systems. After the official switchover, they will be switching the stores over to their system. When CVS bought Eckard, I think they were able to switch about 70 stores over each week, which would equal about 10 weeks to switch over all our stores over to their system. Of course, their first priority is going to the the markets where we have both Freestanding Drug stores and Combo stores. Specifically, those markets where we can directly telnet into both the Drug and Combos.
(because, gee, that's not a good idea, letting people see into 2 companies store systems!) Yes, I am talking about the Chicago area. Chicago, Milwaukee, and a few other small markets.)
CVS gets all the freestanding Drug stores. (Osco and Sav-On).
SuperValu gets the freestanding and combo Grocery stores in a fairly wide swath of the country.
Cerberus gets the freestanding and combo grocery stores in the lower performing areas (Northern CA, Southwest, Dallas/Fort Worth, Florida are the main ones, I think.) So we support stores from all 3 groupings, though we can't telnet into the Albertsons dual brands, just the Jewel/Osco combos.
I think there's a good chance of getting a nice job offer in Chicago, since the Jewel Scan administration doesn't understand the Drug Scan administration at all.
I just hope that any job offer will include relocation! I truly don't think I can handle another relocation without help. In some ways I'm still recovering from the move out here to Phoenix.
Though, I think in that case, there might be a fairly good chance of being offered either Manager or Assistant Manager of Drug Scan Administration... :)
