School question

For those who have recently graduated college, or still going, I've got a question for you. (especially thinking of goodluckfox)

How common is it now for students to take notes on laptops in class, rather than handwriting on paper notebooks?

(I graduated in 1991, and am going back to school starting in a couple weeks. Going for a Paralegal certificate.)

Its getting more and more common. I don't usually take mine to classes, much anymore. The classes I've been taking, lately, don't really seem to need it, given that I have to buy the lecture notes before class starts, so I already have everything written down that I would have written down in class, anyways.

I used my laptop to take notes in my AutoCad class last semester, and plan on using it for English this semester. I found I really couldn't use it for electronics, due to the writing down of formulas.

During class, I've never seen anyone use their laptop yet to take notes. And so far, I've hand written my notes and transferred them to my laptop after the class is over.

Very common at my university. Undergrad classes usually had one or two, but my graduate classes usually have more -- indeed, one side of the room is typically 'Laptop Row,' with all of us sharing the cluster of outlets.

Recorders are also increasingly common. I carry a small digital recorder and tape my lectures for reference later.
