Memories of youth

today was a nice day.
Jos got home early this morning. (while I was asleep.)
We went grocery shopping, and I picked up a childhood memory. When we lived in Oakwood, IL we had a garden every year. One of the things we grew was what I always called a Banana Pepper. I've never seen anything called that in grocery stores. Since Jos wanted me to get him a jalepeno pepper for his chili, I decided to pick up a pepper that looked similar to what I remember. I figured that if it ended up being a hot pepper, he could go ahead and put it in the chili also. 'Twasn't hot! It tasted pretty much how I remember, though it didn't look quite the same. What I remember was a light yellowish green, while the one I picked up tonight was a dark green. I'll still be buying them occasionally. :)
I have decided that I love YouTube! Not so much because of all the home videos that are up. There are a TON of music videos up also! Some I've not seen since their original release in the 80s, and some that I never saw!
Yes, most of those links are for the Thompson Twins. They are pretty much my favorite band from the 80s, but I've never seen videos on any of the retro shows. A lot on the retro shows focus on one hit wonders, and the Twins had quite a few hits.
Peter Schilling is another favorite, because the vast majority of his (English version) songs have a strong science / science fiction flavour. His first album released in the US was half English and half German, and was the inspiration for me to take German in college. (I wish I had kept up with it, and studied it longer, and studied more languages too...)
I really have got to get myself some new icons...
