oy vey. here it is, 7:45pm, and it is still well over 100º. I think the official temperature right now is 108º. High temperature today was 114º (record), and the LOW was 95º, which was the highest low temperature for this date...

OK. I think I need some advice. Or maybe I just need to ramble a bit... We'll see how this turns out.

I've mentioned before, that most of the remaining jobs in the Scottsdale office are in support of Jewel/Osco division, in Chicago metro area. As such, it seems a bit ridiculous for us to stay out here in AZ. Especially since Cerberus (the investment firm) ended up with this office. And we now have a FOR SALE sign in front of the office. (Gee, that's not a subtle hint, is it??)
I was thinking that they might hold off on moving us to Chicago for 6 months or so, but now it seems like they may be moving a lot quicker than that, by the middle of October, at the latest. Most of this isn't official yet, but I have it from very good sources. And there is a meeting Wednesday for the remaining 40 associates.
They have officially approved move packages for hourly associates who move to Chicago. However, most of the hourly associates don't want to move. I am one of the few hourly willing to move. (Most of the hourly are from AZ originally. Again, I am one of the few who moved out here for the job.) Management, is flipped. Most are willing to move, because most of them aren't from here...
Don't know which specific office in Chicago area we would be going to, since it is my understanding that the Melrose Park office is at capacity.
I think that there is a strong possibility that I could move into management of Scan Administration in the move. Which would be nice, I will admit.
I do want the job, though it will obviously largely depend on the money offered.

Here is the hard part.

Friday, Jos went out to CA for his training with Schneider Trucking. He's going to be out there for 3 weeks at least, and even when he gets a regular route, it will be getting him home weekends only.
now, in a way, this looks good, since as a trucker, he's not specifically tied to a specific location. In fact, Schneider is based in Green Bay, WI.
However, Jos doesn't really want to move back to the cold areas of the country. Plus, he said if he was up there, he would probably end up more on an Over The Road route. Home less, and possibility of having to go cross border to Canada.

So.
I don't want to lose Jos. I love him.
But, I do want to continue with SuperValu (Jewel/Osco). I now have almost 13 years with them.
I don't know what to do....

See if you can get the management position first... then worry about the rest. Usually, I find that pieces of a puzzle just tend to fall together, if left to their own devices. The down side, is that (imnsho) if you move to Chicago, the Operating Center he'd be out of would be "Gary" (as in, Gary Indiana) which SUCKS *BLEEEEEEEEEP* for the Van devision. In the two and a half years that I've been working for Schneider, with the exception of when I was on a dedicated account and did it daily, I've gone to canada... twice. There aren't currently "Midwest regional" positions open... as of right now they're all OTR (what he's getting in to is "Western Regional" which keeps him in the eleven western states). I see a LOT of runs to the east coast... and the deep south.

BUT, being in the chicago area would allow him to get in to truckrail (who are always desperate for drivers) and home every weekend (and kept in roughly a 3-900 mi radius of Chicago) or even daily and making nearly the same money as he would in Western Regional. (Prossibly more)
