Jos and mine anniversary was yesterday. 2 years since we were joined in a civil union, in Vermont. then went down to AnthroCon.
To celebrate, last night we went out to eat at the California Pizza Kitchen. We were then going to go see Pirates of the Carribean. Unfortunately, it was sold out when we got there, so we went to Superman Returns. IMO, it is the best of the Superman movies. It is quite good, and we both enjoyed it a lot. I think I liked it a bit better than Jos.

Also, yesterday was Jos's last day working as a vending machine filler... He has a phone interview with Schneider Trucking. Hopefully he will get it. He likes driving so much. Of course, I'll miss him around here. :(

Today, we went up to Peoria, AZ. he had driven by a building he thought would make a neat house. it is an old convenience store at the corner of 75th Ave and Grand Ave. it's a good idea, but I don't think we'll be able to do it. For one, while looking at the Peoria, AZ, it turns out the spot we looked at is zoned as non-residential.

Shouldn't be necessary, and its almost a moot point. Basically at this point, if I change my mind, I get to wait 6 months before I can reapply. Besides, I'm coming from being a route driver for a vending company with the largest physical area in the company drivign a low cab forward truck (a beat up '94 Isuzu NPR as it happens). I've always loved driving and done driving jobs, just none that would work as a carreer. Thanks for the offer though.

Sometimes getting a variance from non-residental (i.e. commercial) to residential is a lot easier than the other way around.

Your best bet, if you are still interested, is to go to the planning board and/or tax officer and talk to them about it.

I was looking at some property that was zoned "Commercial", but the tax clerk told it was fairly easy to get it re-zoned to residential. Of course this was in Franklin Twp, Gloucester County, NJ and the area around it is mostly undevloped.
But, as they say, the most sure way to fail is not to try, and the worst they can say is "no can do".

As an addenum to the above; If the proerty has been sitting abandoned for some time and the prosepects look dim for anyone buying it as a commercial property, then most towns will jump at a chance, and do anything it takes, to get it rehabiltated and an active tax source, even if it is not as much as a commercial property would bring in.
