vik_thorWell, I got back from the Arizona Ren Fest about an hour ago.
Had quite a bit of fun, even though Jos wasn't able to go down with me... He was on call as the Service Tech for his vending company this weekend. (I can hear some of you ask, "Then why didn't you go another weekend, when Jos could go with you?" Remember, I normally work Saturdays and Sundays. So I had to take today as a vacation day, and Diana worked for me today, meaning she will be taking Friday off, for her 5 days this week. I had scheduled the vacation day about a month ago, don't remember the exact timing. Then a couple weeks ago, Jos tells me that their normal Service Tech is going to a family reunion this weekend... le sigh. Maybe NEXT year we can get everything together!)
This is the first Ren Fest I've been to since I lived in Kansas City.
I was actually tempted to skip it today, since it started out raining today, but after talking it over with Jos, we decided I should go ahead and go.
When I got down there, it was still raining, and a bit chilly (I'm glad I layered!) the rain finally ended about 2pmish. (and of course, silly me, I forgot to take a camera with me, even though we have a (CHEAP) digital, and 4 rolls of 35mm film, and probably that many 35mm cameras floating around this place. (I really should start taking pictures more often. I DEFINITELY need to get some better pictures of Cracker and Phiz before we have to get rid of them... *cries* ) so, no pics of the RenFest.)
Mostly, I just wandered around, doing people watching, and looking at all the pretty merchandise. So many shinys!! Earrings and rings and prints, oh my! *G*
bought some food (no turkey legs), saw some birds of prey in cages (missed the show after the rain ended.) Watches a glass blowing demonstration (and saw some absolutely BEAUTIFUL art glass in their booth!!), watched a blacksmith for a short time.
Watched a few musical acts and a few comedy acts. The Tortuga Twins were my favorite comedy act (not to mention the cutest! :) I ended up buying one of their DVDs.
since LJ has expanded their userpic limit for paid subscribers, I now have the capacity to have 46 userpics. Of which I currently only have 12. I definitely need to get me some new userpics! (any of my artistic friends want to donate one? ;)
