Riverworld??
Mar. 22nd, 2003 11:56 pmWell, it's a little over halfway over... and what do I think of it?
Ehhh...
Not that bad, taken as itself.
But it is only very loosely based on the books.
1: and the biggest, the first resurection, The Day of the Big Shout was everyone, all at once. Not this sequential resurrections, seperated by years...
2: and my next biggest gripe. Horses?? There were no other Earthj creatures on Riverworld...
3:Resurectees were resurected with no hair, and men were permanently without beards. And no 'universal translation'. In fact, Riverworl is where I first heard of Esperanto.... and clothes didn't appear in the grails for several days.
And speaking of the Grails and the Grailstoens... the grails were described as being bucket like while the grailstoens were electrical.
Monat Gruat made it through, as did several other characters. But Monat in the books is one of the controllers of the planet. Gwenafra was NOT the only child. Everyone over 5 or 10 was ressurected....
Resurections happened on the ground, not underwater.
I did like Samuel L. Clemens and his riverboat.Alice Pleasance Liddel Hargreaves was nice.
the Mysterious Stranger was done well.
I wonder if they are planning on doing it as a series, of if this is a oneshot movie...
the SciFi site doesn't say anything...
I don't know if I would like an ongoing series, if it follws this beginning...
