I realized something fairly trivial recently, and confirmed it with my husband,
javarod.
I have slightly odd tastebuds.
Most people find the pith of oranges (and other citrus fruits) to be quite bitter. To me, it is pretty much tasteless. I will often eat it from the inside of the peel when I peel an orange.
I remember in High School, Biology class I think it was, we learned that there is a specific receptor that some small % of population is missing, and that they can't taste a specific chemical. I wonder if this is related?
