Using RL name in Furry is...unsettling...

Aloha, Vik!

Hmmmmm...this is a sensitive issue.

For me, the name Alexsandyr Troutnoodler is an entirely fictitious creation that came to mind on a brainstorming session after an IRC RP. I thought up the name "IonOtter" first, then went about thinking of a "real" name for the character.

It was an odd bit of synchronicity that the name "Alexsandyr" should fit the concept of the character, especially since I chose it straight out of the blue. You see, "Alexander" and it's derivatives are Russian for "Protector of Men".

I'd be hard pressed to find a more appropriate name for a "deep space rescue specialist". :)

As time went on, I began to use the "AT" moniker to cloak my identity on the net'. Hell, I figured that if I was going to be profiled regardless of my wishes, they could have all the info they wanted on "AT", leaving *me* alone!

I've also gotten used to the idea of being called "Ion" now and again. Aside from a rather gentle ego-stroke, it's also a bit of security in that only my close associates know my RL name. Which, considering some of the @$$#0!3$ we have in furry and the net in general, to me is a universally good thing.

Speaking strictly from a security standpoint, I would definitely advise you to change your online name. I don't know how much success you will have, since yours is a well-known name. (Thanks to the efforts of Jim Groat and others.) Truth be told, I always thought that Vik Thor was your online name.

As to your choice of a name? Hmmmm. Lirleni is a moderate one for most folks, and I seem to pronounce it alright. But when I try to pronounce them together, my tongue gets caught. :P

First names for me are mostly easy, although I have a decided preference for Slavic or biblical names. The surname? Erffff...this one gives me lots of thought. A romp through the phonebook can be a source of good ideas (Weeblepfeister?!?) so long as you don't swipe someone's name outright. The name Troutnoodler has a story behind it, so you can also try that route.

Hmmmmm..."Hankeshe"...perhaps if you included punctuation/diacriticals to accent the proper pronunciation of the surname? For example: Humuhumunukunukuapu'a'a (hoomoo-hoomoo-nookoo-nookoo-ahpoo-AH!-ah)

*blinks* God, I've been in Hawaii for waaay too long...
