May. 6th, 2008 10:07 pmSorry for being so cryptic earlier. I was in to get some food and reading material for Jos, and did a quick update. (could have done better using TxtLJ or a voice post. didn't think of those until pretty much just now.)
Basically, he has had a large 'pimple' on his forehead for several weeks, and a couple sores on his left cheek for about a week or so. He saw a doctor last week for one of the sores last week, and they gave him some antibiotics. Sunday, the left side of his face got quite swollen in the evening, and didn't go down.
He went into the emergency room this morning. they have admitted him, for at least tonight, and possibly a second night.
They say there is a possibility that it is MRSA. O.O
While he was in the transitional area (between ER and actual room.) a plastic surgeon came in and lanced/drained the sores (and took specimens). Injected local anesthetic around the sores and used scalpel and forceps to get the infection out. He was holding my hand at that time, and was squeezing it VERY hard.
right now, the sores are packed with a tape gauze, with little tabs sticking out.

Date: 2008-05-07 05:45 am (UTC)I hope he's going to be okay. MRSA is some bad juju. Thing is, now YOU have a lot to do before he goes home? Make sure you wash all the linens, towels and wash cloths in the sanitary cycle if you have it, or with Lysol laundry sanitizer.
Spray all bathroom surfaces with alcohol, as well as anything either of you may have touched. I'm sure the doc will go into more detail, but the bottom line is that Jos is going to have to be isolated, either at home or in the hospital.
Take care, hon. Let us know how things turn out.
