OK. Why are they remaking Hairspray? Not that it's not a fun movie, but just doesn't seem like it needs remade...
For those who really like John Waters, in case you didn't know, he is in a new series on CourtTV, 'Til Death do Us Part.

I hadn't heard about this yet... I'm not sure if I'm appalled or just curious. Although from the trailer it seems to have a totally different feel than the original.

Did a bit more reading on it, and it isn't a direct remake...

It is an adaptation of the Broadway musical, which was adapted from the 1988 movie. That would account for the different feel, I expect.
