seasons and work
Sep. 20th, 2006 09:43 pmWell, the seasons are definitely changing here in Arizona. It has been below 100 for the past couple weeks I think, and the past few days has been below 95. And it is just a feeling in the air that the extreme heat of the summer has passed.
It is actually comfortable outside during the whole day!
This is the time of year I really enjoy living here in Phoenix!
Jobwise....
Lets just say that it seems like I'm (probably) not worth enough to SuperValu for them to make me a viable offer to move to Chicago.
I did have an interview last Thursday with 3 of the managers who are going to Chicago. and I think it went quite well. DJ called today, and asked if I would be willing to make the move if there wasn't any relocation assistance.
My answer? "Most probably not."
If they make a high enough offer, I would still consider it, but I don't think they will.
(Though she said that they might send me to Chicago for training.)
considering how few are even willing to consider moving, you would think they would think that paying for moving would be cheap. DJ said that what she is hearing is more along the lines of "Since we have so many people already in Chicago, why should we pay to move a few people from Phoenix."
I'm sorry, there is a difference between having people, and having people who KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! It takes awhile to teach people how to do these jobs. Especially since it is not going to be just a few new people with everyone else in the department experienced. (Yes, we have cross trained quite a bit.) This is having entire departments being new to the jobs, with only training manuals... (which I am still working on...)
I really feel sorry for the workers at store level. I remember what it is like working in the stores. Having stuff ring up wrong (or seeming to) and having to explain to customer why...
I am planning on being one of the last people out of the office. Turn out the lights and lock the doors.
It is going to be so sad...
