How have I let my apartment get into such a mess...
Maybe instead of cat'taur, my phenotype should be a packrat. (just ask any of the ppl. who have ever helped me move...)
Was thinking earlier today, about how I almost ended up here in Champaign area 17 years ago. Was thinking strongly about going to University of Illinois, instead of Southern Illinois University. Decided to go to SIU, largely because it was close to home and could save money by living with my cousin Lisa and her husband Todd. (Gods, their daughter Erin must be 18 or so now...)
Anyway, I was originally planning on getting my general studies out of the way, and deciding on a major, then transferring up here to UI to finish it out, and continue with Masters degree in Library and Information Science. Was planning on becoming a librarian. (Which is why my first major was Elementary Education... Was going to have the option of being a school librarian. Have to be a certified teacher to be one.) Worked at the School of Law Library for 3 years as a student worker, which I really enjoyed. «chuckles» I was there long enough, some of the law students were surprised that I WASN'T a law student, nor was I planning on being one!
If I had started out up here, so much would have been different.
First, I would have felt freer to be myself, and would have come out of the closet sooner. (Being 15 miles from home, and having a father who was a state cop... just a LITTLE inhibiting.)
Might have met Jon Ginoli (founder of Pansy Division) while he was still here in Champaign.
Might have met the one man who I've ever thought I was in love with sooner. (and isn't it funny that right now, I can't even think of his name...)
I (almost certainly) wouldn't have takern my 1.5 year 'vacation' to San Francisco. Which would have kept me out of Kansas City.
Though I could still have ended up working for Osco.
I actually like my job (at least most of the time. :) It's just that sometimes recently, I've been feeling a little trapped in it. (which I guess is part of the reason I'm looking for other positions within the company.)
(Hmmm.... maybe I should change the subject to memories, as that seems to be what all this is...)
