I have been biking to and from work 2 or 3 days a week for the past couple of months. I've done a couple of routes to work, but the linked one has settled as my standard. The main reason for the dogleg on the way to work is there is a stretch of Hanley that does not have sidewalk on the southbound side. Nor bike lane. While it is legal to ride on the street, I do not feel comfortable doing it during rush hour. Especially since there would be a stretch where the vehicles coming up from behind would not see me until they were pretty much right on me.
There is a locker room including a shower at work, which is nice. I don't have to go in to work sweaty. (I actually don't remember what I did when I was biking in to work when we lived in Phoenix. There wasn't a locker room…) I am thinking of continuing to ride even when the weather gets cold. As long as it is dry.
