I hate moving.
I REALLY hate packing up for moving....
I'm totally amazed at how many books I've got!!!
I've been scanning a lot of them into Book Collector with a CueCat while I'm packing them. I am currently @ 390... And this isn't counting all the ones that it didn't find online, or the older ones w/out an ISBN. And that is maybe ¼ - 1/3 of my books.....

Guestimating. Grand total could easily be 2000-2500, which still puts in same percapita range... (you said OUR, meaning at least 2 ppl combined library... :)
(and is also not counting comics, at all... 15 long boxes worth...)
And, how many times have you moved your 4-5000?
The ongoing move, into storage, will be the 12th move of my library, in about the past 12 years...

That's sad, and scary...
I truly hadn't realized HOW many times I've moved, until I counted it up......
OMG.... I just counted up the moves I've done since graduating HS in 85. This is going to be the 21st time I've moved....
Granted, a lot of the earlier ones, while in college, didn't include nearly all of my belongings, since I left a lot of my stuff at my Mom's house, until she moved out of it...
Is it any wonder I don't truly feel rooted anywhere?
Gods, I'm making myself depressed.....
If I'm calculating correctly, I've averaged about 10 months between moves. which considering I've been in this apt. 2years, may give you an idea as to how short a time between some of my moves has been...
