About 2-300 years ago, went through High Tech phase (similar to present day Earth). An AI was born in this time period. Eventually, the Network was a planetary entity. The Multiverse ‘discovered’, but no easy way of traveling. The planet was overpopulated and had founded several colonies off planet.

Semi controlled contraction, depopulation.

Restabilization of ecology. Reintroduction of several species that had been extinct (from frozen embryos). As the planetary production contracted, some most of the colonies were abandoned. Several groups stayed in space, mostly in the asteroid belt. A couple of generation ships were sent out. Spacers discover an FTL drive.

There is limited trade between Spacers and Groundlings.

PRESENT:

The Network does not interfere w/ organic life, just observes. Does request info from Kyleyans. 2 way information flow.
Kyleyans use appropriate sustainable technology. Know electricity. Main communication is telepathy w/ limited vocal. Many cultures/languages. Generally nonviolent.
About 5-15% population are shapers. Vast majority of these can only work with 1 substance (wood, stone, flesh). Flesh shapers (healers) can only shape. They cannot heal diseases. Shaping gifts usually awaken at puberty.
General dislike of large families. 3 children is rare. This is due to the ancient overpopulation that almost destroyed the world.
Generally cooperative.


Everything is viewed as alive, including the Network.
Lirleni’s culture calls itself Maiow.

He will believe himself to be in the Dreaming for awhile, until he remembers reference to Multiverse. Will be quicker if someone mentions it.
Gunpowder will mostly be for fireworks. Guns will be known, but mainly used for war and Dangerous Animals. War will be
Bows used when hunting food.
Omnivorous.
Communalistic. ‘Leni will be very confused when asked to pay for food. Will think being asked to perform.
Horses unknown. 6 limbed normal. Small draconoids. Beast of burden mainly used for plowing, or for carts for invalids.

‘Leni can play either instrument singly beautifully. Can play both together (tambura binga w/ hands, bar drum feet) but just learning.
